Staying safe on GiftGame comes down to three rules: never share your password or codes, know that codes only appear in your GiftGame account (the in-app inbox and your web account), and never pay anyone to receive a code. GiftGame never asks you for money, card details or your password to deliver a code.
Where do codes arrive?
When you pick a reward with GG, the GG is deducted, and once your request is approved the code appears only in your GiftGame account: as a message in your inbox inside the app, and via "Show code" on your web account.
That means:
- "Your code is ready, click here" messages by email, SMS, WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord or social media are not from GiftGame.
- Anyone who says "pay a small fee first and we'll send your code" is a scammer. GiftGame does not charge for code delivery.
- You never need to sign in to another site or download a file to get your code.
Account security
- Never share your password or sign-in codes. Nobody, including GiftGame support, needs your password.
- Sign in only through the official GiftGame app or the official website.
- Check the address of any link you receive; sites that look like the real one but differ by a letter may be phishing sites.
- Install the app only from Google Play. "Modded", "hacked" or "unlimited GG" versions put both your account and your device at risk.
Fake "code generators" and "free code lists"
You may find pages offering a "Google Play code generator", "Steam wallet hack" or "100% working free codes". What you should know:
- Code generators do not exist. Valid gift codes are only created by the issuing company (Google, Valve and so on) and its sales channels.
- These pages usually send you through surveys, app installs or "human verification" steps and never deliver a code; some try to collect your login or personal data.
- Publicly listed "free codes" are used by someone else the moment they are posted.
The honest way to get a code is to earn GG and pick a reward from the reward catalog, then redeem it the official way: how to redeem a Google Play code, how to redeem a Steam wallet code.
People who want to be paid in gift cards
Google and the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) give similar warnings about gift card scams:
- Anyone claiming to be from an agency (tax office, bank, police) and asking to be paid in gift cards is a scammer. Real organizations do not ask for payment in gift cards.
- If a relative messages "I'm in trouble, send a gift card code now", confirm it through another channel.
- Google warns that anyone asking you for a code may be a scammer.
How to protect your codes
| Do | Don't |
|---|---|
| Redeem the code directly on your own account | Post the code in chats, comments or forums |
| Hide the code if you must share a screenshot | Give the code to someone who offers to "check" it |
| Report problems through in-app support | Sell or trade a code before it is redeemed |
| Check you are on the right account before redeeming | "Verify" a code on an unknown website |
If something looks suspicious
- Do not give any information, click links or pay.
- Take a screenshot of the message or page (without your own codes visible).
- Report it through the support section in the GiftGame app.
- If you shared your password, change it immediately.
- If you lost money, contact the company that issued the card and the relevant authorities.
