To redeem a Google Play code on your phone, open the Play Store, tap your profile picture at the top right, go to "Payments & subscriptions" and then "Redeem code", enter the code and confirm. On a computer you can do the same on Google's official redeem page. The balance goes to the Google account you confirm.
Where your code arrives in GiftGame
When you pick a Google Play reward with GG in GiftGame, it goes like this:
- You choose the reward and the GG is deducted from your balance.
- Your request is approved.
- After approval, the code arrives as a message in your inbox inside the app. You can also open it on your web account with Show code.
The code is shown only in your GiftGame account (the in-app inbox and your web account). Ignore any email, SMS or social media message claiming "your code is ready"; see our safety guide for details.
On your phone (Android), step by step
Steps from Google's help page:
- Open the Google Play Store app on your Android device.
- Tap your profile picture at the top right.
- Tap Payments & subscriptions, then Redeem code.
- Type the code from your GiftGame inbox, or copy and paste it.
- Tap Redeem.
- Check which Google account will receive the balance, then confirm.
Menu names can differ slightly by app version and device language.
On a computer, step by step
- Open Google Play's official redeem page in your browser (link in Sources).
- Make sure you are signed in to the Google account that should get the balance.
- Enter the code and click Redeem.
- Check the account and confirm.
What can you spend the balance on?
Once redeemed, the amount is added to your Google Play balance. You can use it for eligible purchases on Google Play such as apps, games, in-app items and subscriptions. A redeemed code cannot be used again, and Google Play balance cannot be moved between regular accounts, so choosing the right account matters.
Common errors and fixes
From Google's "Fix problems with gift cards & codes" page:
| Error / situation | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Invalid code | Typo, extra spaces or dashes | Retype without spaces, or copy and paste |
| Already redeemed | May have gone to another account | Check your other Google accounts |
| Redemption limit reached | Google's per-account limit | Google suggests waiting 24 hours and trying again |
| Code expired | The code is past its date | Contact whoever issued the code |
| Not available in your country | Codes are region-bound | See "Country rule" below |
| Account verification needed | Google asks for extra checks | Follow Google's on-screen steps |
Country rule
According to Google, Google Play gift cards are restricted to the country where they were purchased and can only be redeemed there. The country and currency of your Google Play payments profile also need to match. So when you pick a reward in GiftGame, check which country the code is for; if you are unsure, ask support before ordering.
If your GiftGame code does not work
- Make sure you copied the code from your inbox and are signed in to the right account.
- Check the table above; if it is a limit error, wait 24 hours.
- If the problem continues, contact support inside the GiftGame app and mention your order, without posting the code anywhere public.
Never share a code on social media, in forums or with anyone who offers to "check" it. Google itself warns that anyone asking you for a code may be a scammer.
