Earning Rewards by Playing Games: A Realistic Guide

Can you really earn by playing games, who pays, how much time it takes and what you get in return? Explained with GiftGame's game tasks, without promises.

In short

  • There is no "play and get rich": game tasks pay small amounts for your time, and what you earn is points that convert into codes, not cash.
  • The advertiser pays: a game studio budgets for new players, the offerwall company splits that into tasks, you play, and your share arrives as GG.
  • In GiftGame, game tasks come from offerwalls such as adjoe Playtime and Torox; the reward is credited to your balance when the partner reports it.

The most common real form of "earning money" by playing games is playing an advertised game for a set time or up to a set level, receiving points and exchanging them for a gift card or game code. In GiftGame those points are called GG; there is no cash payout, the reward is a code such as Google Play, Steam or PUBG Mobile UC. The advertiser pays, not you.

How is earning by playing games possible?

A mobile game studio sets aside an advertising budget to find new players. Instead of a classic ad it can say "I will pay whoever plays my game"; rewarded advertising companies such as adjoe run this. According to adjoe's documentation, Playtime campaigns come in two types: time-based (a reward per minute spent in the game) and event-based (a reward when an event such as a level, a sign-up or a purchase is completed). You pick the task in GiftGame, install the game and play; the partner sees the time or the event, reports it to us, and we credit your share as GG. How offerwalls work is covered in detail in earning game codes by completing tasks.

What do you get in return?

GiftGame does not pay cash. The GG you collect converts into the codes in the catalog: Google Play and Steam wallet codes, Amazon and Apple gift cards, PUBG Mobile UC, League of Legends RP and more. Under Google Play's policy, loyalty programs may reward users with real-world prizes; in game apps those rewards must be granted at a fixed ratio that is shown clearly in the app. In GiftGame the GG price of every reward is listed in the catalog and does not change with luck or game performance. The codes on offer are listed in how to get free game codes.

Realistic expectations: time and amounts

Expectation Reality
"A big reward in a few minutes" Time-based tasks pay small amounts per minute; building up a reward takes hours.
"Every game task is open to everyone" Campaigns vary by device, region and a "new user" condition; some tasks will not show for you.
"Rewards keep accruing after I close the game" According to adjoe, the reward stops when you stop progressing in the game; it only accrues for real play time.
"More tasks with a VPN" adjoe notes that campaigns may not appear when a VPN is used; use your real location and a real device.
"Earnings without spending time" None. Do not take a task for a game you do not want to spend time on; pick a genre you enjoy.

Step by step in GiftGame

  1. Open the Playtime or offerwall section in the app and list the game tasks.
  2. Read the task's condition: time-based, level-based, or new users only.
  3. Install the game from the link in the task; a game installed from elsewhere may not count.
  4. Play. In a time-based task the reward accrues as you play; in a level-based task it arrives when you reach the level.
  5. When the partner reports it, the GG is credited; convert your balance into a code from the catalog. After approval the code arrives in your in-app inbox and web account.

The checklist for missing rewards is on the adjoe Playtime and Torox pages. According to adjoe, a wrong device clock can break reward display; set the clock to automatic.

Ways beyond games

On days you do not want to play, surveys, mini games, the wheel and the daily reward also give GG; all of them are in the how to earn GG guide. Stay away from apps that ask for card details or an upfront payment under a "play and earn money" banner; the safety guide and how to choose a trustworthy rewards app list the warning signs. Frequently asked questions

Can you really earn money by playing games?

You earn points through game tasks paid for by advertisers; in GiftGame those points accumulate as GG and convert into gift cards or game codes, not cash. Amounts are small and take time.

Who pays?

The advertiser promoting the game. The offerwall company (adjoe, Torox and others) splits that budget into tasks, verifies your play and reports it to the app; your share arrives as GG.

Which games do I have to play?

The advertised games listed on the offerwall at that moment. The list varies by device and region; if there is no task in a genre you like, surveys and mini games are other ways to earn.

I played the game but got no points, why?

The most common reasons: the game was not installed from the task's link, the condition (time or level) was not met, the task was for new users only, a VPN was used or the device clock was wrong. Check the partner pages' checklists; if unresolved, write to support in the app.

Can I convert my points into cash?

No. In GiftGame, GG only converts into the codes and gift cards in the catalog; there is no cash transfer to a bank or wallet.
